Mac and Stella, The Canada Geese
Mac and Stella (lovingly named after the beers Mac and Jack and Stella Artois) are a pair of Canada Geese that have been nesting annually in our flower barrel for many years. We had a small landing created just for her designated barrel so that she has easy access to it and a good view of the harbor and the local surroundings. Mac, her loyal partner is usually not far from the nest keeping a close eye out for her. Watch Stella and see her progress as she creates her nest, lays her eggs and waits patiently for them to hatch. Once hatched they are typically out of the nest within 24 hours. In 2021 Stella had 6 goslings. Nesting typically occurs between St. Patrick’s Day and Mother’s Day.
